I took James and Joseph to the Acton Discovery Museum last week because I've heard great things about it. What a great day we had! The museum is made up of 2 houses. One is designed with older kids in mind and the other is for toddlers.
The toddler museum is an old Victorian house where each room (over 3 floors) is designed and set up with a different theme in mind. What a great idea! There really weren't many kids since school is still in session and we were there mid-week...so James was able to run around freely from room to room. There were even rooms that Joseph could enjoy.
The first room was a big train engine. It also had a big train table, much like the one that James has at home.
The second room was made up of all of these contraptions that went all over the walls and ceiling. James could climb up and drop a ball at the top of each one and watch the ball make its way through the obstacles to the very bottom. He really enjoyed this room.
The sun came out for a little while and we were able to take advantage of the tricycle roadway. 2 things about this- 1) James made me put the "bike hat" on him. I, of course, wouldn't question safety, but in reality he was just excited to wear some kind of hat. And 2) he hasn't stopped talking about this grey/blue bike since we came home.
Another favorite room was the water table room. To me, it really wasn't much, but James couldn't get enough :-)
There was a room full of Safari animals with little treeforts and slides to climb, which James loved. Joseph was also able to get really comfy in here.
The "Infant Room" actually kept James very busy too, but Joseph loved laying in front of the mirror.
I showed this area to James last because I figured he'd never want to leave. This is a DREAM sandbox!
